Release: 21 October 2026

Cost Overview and Ask Frøy

App Builder now has a Cost overview that shows what your apps cost to build and run. The in-app helper Ask AI is now called Ask Frøy. This release also brings a more flexible Transform editor and a quicker way to create a simple M3 workflow without leaving App Builder.

New features

Cost overview in App Builder

The app list in App Builder has a new Cost button, first in the toolbar. It opens a Cost dialog that shows how much AI usage your apps have generated and what it cost.

At the top you see the total Cost as a dollar amount, the Total tokens used (tokens are the units AI models measure their work in) and the number of sessions. Below that, a usage chart shows how the cost develops over time. You can show it as a chart or a table, and split it by, for example, user or model.

You can narrow the picture with filters: Connection, User, Label, a Range (from lifetime to the last 7, 30 or 90 days, or your own dates) and a Granularity of daily or weekly. Under Refine returned usage you can limit it to a system or an AI model. A Token breakdown separates input, output and cache usage, and a note tells you when some usage has no price attached.

Why it matters: you can follow what your apps cost, see which users, models or periods drive the cost, and spot changes early. In the app editor, the build usage dialog now also uses the label Cost.

Improvements

Ask AI is now Ask Frøy

The in-app helper is now called Ask Frøy. The button in the top header and the title of the panel use the new name, and Frøy greets you when you open it. It works as before, with the same settings and the same documentation links.

Transform editor layout

The Transform step editor now lets you choose how it is laid out. Use the switch in the editor header to pick Three columns (input, expression and output side by side, the default) or Expression above output, which gives long expressions more room. Your choice is remembered in your browser.

The editor also keeps your test input and the execution you loaded when you close and reopen the step, so you can continue testing where you left off. Writing expressions is easier too: pressing Enter keeps the indentation, closing brackets are indented correctly, regular expressions are highlighted and the editor uses a monospace font.

Create a simple M3 workflow from App Builder

In the app editor, open Resources, go to the Workflows tab and choose New Workflow → Simple M3 Workflow. The M3 Workflow Builder opens in a dialog: pick the connection, program and transaction, give the workflow a name and select Create. The new workflow appears in the resources list, ready to use in your app straight away, without a test run. If the name is already taken, you can choose Use existing instead.

The option is shown for draft versions of an app, to users who have write permission on workflows.
