Tenant Prompt
The Tenant Prompt is a set of standing instructions configured by a tenant administrator that applies automatically to every App Builder AI session in the tenant. It lets you establish organisation-wide defaults for visual identity, design standards, behaviour, and domain language — so that all apps generated in App Builder reflect your organisation's standards without requiring individual users to re-state them each time.
What the Tenant Prompt controls
The Tenant Prompt is injected as context into every App Builder session before the user begins working. Common uses include:
| Purpose | Example instruction |
|---|---|
| Visual identity | Specify a primary colour, logo placement, or font preference |
| Design standards | Require consistent button labels, navigation patterns, or form layouts |
| Domain language | Define preferred terminology — for example, "Order" instead of "Transaction" |
| Behaviour | Set expectations for tone, level of detail, or interaction style |
| Business rules | Include standing constraints the AI should always respect when designing apps |
Setting the Tenant Prompt
- Go to Administration → AI Management → Tenant Prompt.
- Enter your instructions in the text area.
- Click Save.
Viewing the Tenant Prompt requires Read permission on the Tenant Prompt resource (under the AI Apps app) in the user's role. Editing it requires Write permission. See Roles.
The prompt takes effect immediately — all new App Builder sessions in the tenant will include these instructions.
Write the Tenant Prompt as clear, direct instructions rather than descriptive prose. The AI applies them literally, so specificity produces more consistent results. For example: "All primary buttons must use the label 'Confirm', not 'Submit' or 'OK'." is more effective than "Buttons should be consistent."
Scope and limitations
- The Tenant Prompt applies to all users in the tenant — it cannot be limited to specific users or roles.
- Individual users can still provide additional instructions in their App Builder sessions. The Tenant Prompt provides the baseline; user instructions add to it.
- The Tenant Prompt does not affect workflow behaviour — it is specific to App Builder.
- Very long prompts may reduce the AI's flexibility in interpreting user instructions. Keep the Tenant Prompt focused on non-negotiable standards rather than exhaustive rules.
