Widgets

Widgets are the building blocks of a dashboard. Each widget connects to a data source, displays or accepts input from the user, and can be linked to other widgets so they respond to each other in real time.

Available widget types

WidgetDescription
Info WidgetDisplays a single value or count in a styled card. Use it for KPIs like open orders, failed records, or active employees.
Input WidgetA search box that queries a dataset or workflow as the user types, and drives other widgets with the results.
More widgets coming

Bar charts, line graphs, and table widgets are on the roadmap.

Data sources

Every widget connects to one of the following:

SourceDescription
Custom TableA dataset managed in Vince Platform Tables. Best for static or pre-loaded data.
WorkflowA backend workflow or API call executed at runtime. Best for live lookups against external systems.
EventA value shown in response to a selection event triggered by another widget.

Linking widgets

Widgets can be linked so that an action in one widget — such as a user selecting a search result — automatically updates what another widget displays.

Linking is configured in the Data panel of the widget you want to react, using the Linked from field. Point it at the widget that should trigger the update.

Example: An Input Widget lets the user search for an employee. An Info Widget linked to it updates its count and detail view to reflect only that employee's records.

Common configuration panels

Most widgets share a consistent set of configuration panels:

PanelPurpose
DataConnect the data source, set the widget name, configure linking and event visibility
AppearanceControl fonts, colours, icons, and conditional formatting rules
DetailsDefine what is shown when a user clicks to drill down
FilterRestrict the dataset to specific rows or conditions

Some panels are only available for certain data sources — see each widget's documentation for specifics.
