Create a New Workflow

Creating a workflow in Vince Platform takes you through a guided setup process before you reach the visual builder. Follow the steps below to configure a new workflow from scratch.

To start, click + New Workflow from the Workflows list.

Step 1 — Descriptors

The first screen collects the workflow's basic metadata.

FieldDescription
NameA unique, descriptive name for the workflow
DescriptionAn optional summary of what the workflow does
TypeExpress for standard workflows; High Volume for large dataset processing
ImportOptional — import an existing workflow definition
EnabledCheckbox to activate the workflow after creation
LabelsTags for filtering and grouping workflows in the list
tip

Use labels to group workflows by project, module, or team. The VXL label must be applied if you want this workflow to appear in the Excel add-in.

Step 2 — Template

Choose a pre-built template to start from an existing pattern, or select Blank to build from scratch.

Templates pre-populate components and connections for common use cases, which can then be modified to fit your requirements.

Step 3 — Environment

Select which environments this workflow is active in, and designate a primary environment.

SettingDescription
Active EnvironmentsThe environments where this workflow can be run
Primary EnvironmentThe default environment used when no environment is specified
API EnvironmentThe environment used when the workflow is triggered via the API

Step 4 — Summary

Review all settings before creation. Click Create to confirm and open the workflow builder.

Building the workflow

Once created, the workflow builder opens on a canvas. Click the + button to add components to the flow.

Every workflow must start with a Trigger component, which determines how and when the workflow runs.
