Groups
A workflow group puts several related workflows together in VXL Live. Each workflow in the group shows up in the add-in, so you can load, enrich, add, update and delete data without switching between workflows.
For example, a group for item maintenance could hold one workflow that loads items, one that adds new items and one that updates or deletes them. You open the group once and work with all of them from the same place.
Groups are created and managed by administrators in Vince Platform; see Groups. Groups also make workflows easier to find in tenants with many workflows.
Browsing groups
Search for a group by name or browse the All tab with the Groups toggle enabled. Groups have a stacked-layers icon in the list. Selecting a group opens all the workflows it contains, one below the other. Click a workflow's name to show or hide its inputs, and run each workflow on its own.
A red warning icon (Invalid) next to a group means that at least one of its workflows has a configuration error. That workflow cannot run until it is fixed in Vince Platform; the other workflows in the group still work.
Permissions
What you see in a group depends on your access level:
| User type | What they see |
|---|---|
| Admin users | All groups and all workflows within them |
| Regular users | Only groups and workflows they have been granted access to (Read, Write, or Full Access) |
Groups are not visible to users who have no access to any workflow within them.
Environment behaviour
Workflows within a group may be linked to different environments. The environment list at the bottom of VXL Live combines the environments of all the workflows in the group, but only those you have access to.
Example: If Workflow A is linked to TEST and Workflow B is linked to PROD, a user with access to both sees TEST and PROD in the list. A user with TEST access only sees TEST.
If you select an environment that is not linked to the workflow you run, VXL Live displays:
The selected environment is not linked to the current workflow. Please choose a valid environment.
Connection permissions
Environments are linked to connections. Your ability to run a workflow also depends on whether you have permission to use the connection associated with the selected environment.
- If you have access to the environment but not its connection, the Run button is disabled for that environment.
- Switching environments updates the Run button state dynamically — switching to a permitted environment re-enables the button.
The Run button colour always reflects the currently selected environment's configured colour.
